Begbies Global Network (BGN) held its second successful 2009 conference in New York 12th – 14th November and achieved a record number of delegates for the professional program as well as the social activities. The event started Thursday evening with a cocktail reception hosted by BMC Group, a USA member of the network, at the “World Bar” mirroring the very global representation within the group.

Professional and technical sessions ran throughout the Friday with excellent presentations by members following an exhilarating Key Note from Dr Barry J Epstein on “Financial Fraud”. During the afternoon session the group split up in three specialist groups dealing with subjects such as “Chapter 11”, Fraud and Fraudsters’ Profiles as well as International Tax.
The social events included a Gala Dinner at The View’s top floor revolving restaurant and a boat trip lunch round Manhattan the next day – in the rain, I am afraid. However, BGN delegates and companions had an entertaining Saturday, the general consensus was that the conference was a success and all will hopefully be able to join us for the next meeting which is scheduled to take place 22nd -24th April in Cyprus. I would like to thank all delegates for their contribution and look forward to seeing you in Cyprus in the spring of 2010! Julie is a law graduate who qualified with Price Waterhouse in 1994. Julie joined Smith & Williamson in 1997 and became a partner in 2001. With Mike Stevenson, Julie set up Middleton Partners offices in Salisbury and Southampton, both of which are now part of Begbies Traynor.
Julie is a member of the Insolvency Practitioners Association and is a Fellow of The Association of Business Recovery Professionals. Julie deals with all aspects of Corporate Recovery and turnaround work and takes all form of personal insolvency appointments.
