County Caravans has acquired the site formerly occupied by Somerset Caravans Ltd at Walford Cross near Taunton.
Somerset Caravans Limited was placed into administration, with Ian Walker and John Kelly of corporate rescue and recovery specialists Begbies Traynor acting as Joint Administrators, in March 2011.
The Administrators stated at the time that their intention was to sell the business as a going concern. Following the administration there was significant interest in the site which culminated in a sale of the assets of Somerset Caravans to County Caravans, successfully completed in May 2011. It is understood that several employees of the previous business have been offered jobs with the new company.
Ian Walker stated that he was very pleased that a sale had been completed in such a short timescale.
Gary Champ, Managing Director of County Caravans, commented that he was delighted to be operating from the site of one of the oldest and best known caravan sales sites in the South of England.
