Daniel Pruce, Governor of the British Virgin Islands, was the guest of honour at the final charity quiz night sponsored by BTG Begbies Traynor for VI Alzheimer’s Association on 9 April 2025. The BVI office of BTG Begbies Traynor sponsored multiple charity nights over the first quarter of 2025 at Bamboushay Restaurant & Lounge in Tortola to raise essential, life-changing funds for the Alzheimer’s charity.

The BVI Governor was in high spirits as he participated in the nail-biting quiz and later presented the cheque to members of the VI Alzheimer’s Association alongside Elaine Hanrahan (Partner at BTG Begbies Traynor BVI).

The fundraising efforts were driven by BVI team members Brian Simpson (Partner), Elaine Hanrahan (Partner), Annette Collins (Partner), Stephanie Wright (Manager) and Adrian Hyde (Partner and International Office Head). With thousands of dollars raised from multiple quiz nights held over three months, the Group matched the donation dollar-for-dollar, taking the grand total to $12,320, from $6,160.

A warm thank you to Julie Cooper, better known as Quiz Mistress Julie, for hosting the quizzes, driving community spirit, raising many hundreds of thousands of dollars through her charity quiz nights and bringing the quiz nights sponsored by BTG Begbies Traynor Group to a celebratory close.

VI Alzheimer’s Association is a non-profit organisation dedicated to creating awareness of Alzheimer’s and encouraging prevention, while building a dementia-friendly community in the British Virgin Islands.

With a growing number of BVI residents officially diagnosed with dementia, the Ministry of Health and Social Development are on an active mission to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s across the entire British Virgin Islands community, stamp out the stigma surrounding the disease, and educate people on recognising the early warning signs.
