BTG Begbies Traynor has supported Simworx, a world leader in the design, development and manufacture of Immersive Media Based Attractions for the theme park and entertainment industry, in its acquisition by Simworx Attractions Limited, a company wholly owned by a Liechtenstein based company, associated with Intamin Amusement Rides.
The transaction was led by a number of teams across BTG, with law firm, Gateley, providing legal transactional support.
The company, which was founded in 2005 and has installed its rides across the globe, appointed Gareth Prince and Mark Malone, partners from BTG Begbies Traynor, as Joint Administrators on 12 June 2026, and a sale was completed shortly thereafter, with 28 employees transferring to the new owners
Vijay Merchant, partner in financial advisory at BTG, ran an accelerated mergers and acquisitions (AMA) process to seek investment into the business, and which culminated in a rescue of the business through a pre-packaged administration process.
Gareth Prince, Partner at BTG Begbies Traynor, said:
“Simworx is well-known in the theme parks and entertainment industry across the globe. Whilst the business had a strong order pipeline, historical and working capital issues were creating cash challenges which required consideration of all avenues for restructure and rescue.”
Vijay Merchant, Partner at BTG, added:
“We were very happy to get this deal completed and start a new chapter for the business after a very difficult period of time. Under its new ownership, and with fresh investment and direction, this company can now progress. We’re sure that it has a bright future ahead.”
Terry Monkton, CEO at Simworx Attractions Limited, said:
“Thanks to all at BTG for their efficient handling of the transaction - we are delighted to have been able to secure new ownership for Simworx. Working closely with ETF Ride Systems (also part of the Intamin family of companies), the company now has a partnership with a strong industry renowned entity that will enhance project delivery, innovation, financing and resource for the benefit of current and future customers.”
