On 26 March 2018, Wetherby-based construction business Haresign Limited was placed into the hands of joint administrators Julian Pitts and Bob Maxwell of Begbies Traynor in Leeds.
Haresign Limited, which was based in Sicklinghall, undertook niche construction projects, creating high quality handcrafted buildings including a number of commercial and residential developments around West and North Yorkshire.
The company ran into problems through its involvement in a major construction project to create a new wedding venue at Wharefedale Grange near Harewood Bridge. A dispute arose which led to the contract being terminated, resulting in significant cashflow problems for Haresign Limited and the company being placed into administration. It has ceased trading with the loss of 11 jobs and it also used the services of a number of subcontractors.
The joint administrators are currently reviewing the issues around the dispute in order to ensure the best outcome for the company’s creditors.
Following graduation from the University of Hull, Julian qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand in Leeds. After a short time with Baker Tilly, in 1989, together with David Wilson, he established Wilson Pitts, a specialist independent practice dealing with all aspects of insolvency and corporate recovery work. In 2006, the Wilson Pitts practice was acquired by Begbies Traynor where Julian is now the Joint Regional Managing Partner for the North-East region.
