Darren Shelmerdine

An investigator with over 20 years experience in the corporate investigation and intelligence industry. Darren joined Begbies Traynor Group in 2009 following a successful career in the private sector in which he founded two leading corporate investigation practices.

As Head of Investigations, Darren is responsible for the strategic planning and operational control of all corporate investigations in the UK and overseas. The specialist investigation division supports banks, financial institutions, leading insolvency and litigation law firm clients in key areas of the recovery process. Darren advises companies of all sizes, from Fortune global 500 to UK SMEs. Darren is a valued point of reference to some of the world’s leading law firms and financial institutions on complex multi-jurisdictional investigative matters.

With a comprehensive global network of strategic professional investigation and security risk advisers in over 100 countries, Darren guarantees our intelligence personnel provide vital insight when pursuing leads overseas and ensures that investigative standards meet all local legislation. At an industry level Darren sits on the Board of the Association of British Investigators, the UKs leading sector organisation of which he has been a qualified member since 1989. A member of the World Association of Detectives for over 10 years, Darren is also the sole UK representative of Association of European Investigators, a bespoke panel of European security and investigation consultants.
