The Southampton office of the UK’s leading independent business recovery practice Begbies Traynor has promoted one of its staff after he successfully boosted the company’s revenue.
Gavin Savage, previously Insolvency Director, has been promoted to Partner.
Gavin is a member of the Insolvency Practitioners' Association and deals with all aspects of corporate recovery work. He joined Begbies Traynor in Southampton in 2008, having been involved in business recovery and insolvency since the late 1980s.
He said: “The growth of the Southampton office could not have happened if it were not for the support of the whole team.
“I am fortunate to work with such a dedicated and hard-working group of professionals and the team has been instrumental in our success, which has occurred against a backdrop of a declining insolvency market.
“We have developed a large number of contacts who have been very supportive of us over the last few years.
“We look forward to continuing to work with them and expanding our network in order to continue to grow on our success in providing businesses, individuals and stakeholders with professional and quality advice.”
Having gained the Joint Insolvency Examination Board qualifications in 1997, Gavin’s career has spanned more than two decades in which he has overseen a wide range of both corporate and personal insolvencies.
Gavin was also formerly a director of a marine company, retailing luxury leisure boats, with offices throughout the UK and Europe.
Julie Palmer, Regional Managing Partner at Begbies Traynor, said: “I am delighted to announce Gavin’s promotion, which recognises all the hard work he has put in to grow our Southampton office.
“Gavin is unique in that his strong background in business recovery and insolvency, combined with his experience of being a business director himself, means that he is well placed to be able to fully understand the issues facing businesses, directors and stakeholders alike.
“We pride ourselves on the breadth of experience we can bring to businesses which are going through financial problems.
“I know, led by Gavin, we have a team in place in Southampton which would not only help struggling businesses identify and resolve their problems, but also help them get back into a position of growth and stability."
Julie is a law graduate who qualified with Price Waterhouse in 1994. Julie joined Smith & Williamson in 1997 and became a partner in 2001. With Mike Stevenson, Julie set up Middleton Partners offices in Salisbury and Southampton, both of which are now part of Begbies Traynor.
Julie is a member of the Insolvency Practitioners Association and is a Fellow of The Association of Business Recovery Professionals. Julie deals with all aspects of Corporate Recovery and turnaround work and takes all form of personal insolvency appointments.
