Advisory firm delivers financial due diligence support on the acquisition trail towards 2030 target for Welsh water brand.
Begbies Traynor Group, the professional services and real estate advisory firm, has supported Tŷ Nant on the acquisition Strathmore water from AG Barr, its latest purchase to fuel its growth ambitions.
The acquisition, which follows that of brands Fonthill Water and Decantae Mineral Water from US-based Primo Water, sees Tŷ Nant move from £12 million towards £30 million in revenue. As part of the deal Strathmore will continue to be bottled at its factory in Forfar, Scotland, and all jobs at factory have been secured.
Tŷ Nant enlisted the help of Begbies Traynor Group to provide general corporate finance support. BTG Advisory carried out the financial due diligence on Strathmore and in preparation for the refinance deal Eddisons (part of Begbies Traynor) conducted a valuation on Tŷ Nant’s state of the art manufacturing facility in Wales.
The Bebgies Traynor Group team advising on the deal was led by Partner Rob Insall and Director Graeme Lipman with support from Eddisons property valuation team. The Begbies Traynor Team has also been providing ongoing debt advisory support to Tŷ Nant to help optimise their debt facilities for general trading and acquisitions.
Robert Insall, Partner at BTG Advisory, said:
“Tŷ Nant’s ambitious and well-thought out plans are making it into a true British success story. With this latest acquisition, it is not only protecting jobs but also creating opportunities for growth and expanding its reach beyond the UK and the high-end dining it specialises in.
“We are very pleased to have supported Tŷ Nant in the next stage of its growth plan and are looking forward to working with the company in the future. By using a refinance to generate cash for investing in acquisitions the company has seen an opportunity to build now and increase its revenue on a path to its target of £30 million and beyond.”
Graeme Lipman, Director at Begbies Traynor, said:
“I had a site visit to the plant in Wales and was so impressed by the entire set up. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the business and in particular the production bottling line.
“It was clear to see why the business is successful with a positive vision for the future. We are very pleased that we were able to support the recent acquisitions and with a good funding line in place, it should support growth inline with the plans that Ty Nant has for the future of itself and its new acquisition.”
Raminder Sidhu, chairman and director at Tŷ Nant, said:
“We thank Begbies Traynor for supporting us on the work to acquire Strathmore. It is a brand with a deep legacy and a loyal following, and we are honoured to be entrusted with its next chapter.
“At the heart of Strathmore’s success is the incredible team in Forfar. Their professionalism, passion and care are a true testament to the strength of the brand and the business. We’re proud to welcome them into the Tŷ Nant family and excited to invest further in their future.
“AG Barr has been exemplary custodians of the brand and the Forfar operation. We are grateful for their partnership and support during this transition, and for the strong platform they’ve built – both in market and on the ground.”
Strathmore offers still and sparkling water sourced and bottled in Forfar, Scotland. It is available in gyms, hotels, events, and leisure venues throughout the UK. Tŷ Nant already supplies some of the world’s leading hotels, retailers, and cultural institutions. By adding Strathmore to its portfolio, the company enhances both its operational scale and geographic reach, while preserving the identities of both brands.
