Changes to the laws governing workplace pensions in the UK have been phased in over the course of recent years, beginning in October 2012 when large companies were first obliged to automatically enrol their staff onto pension schemes. Since that time, an increasing number of employers have become subject to the same legislation and they too are now required by law to enrol their entire workforce onto an appropriate pension vehicle.
Importantly, from June 2015, auto-enrolment obligations will impact every employer of any size in the UK. Those employers that fail to comply with all incoming rules relating to Auto Enrolment will be subject to fines issued by the Pensions Regulator.
