Major European Petrochemicals Contractor

A major European petrochemicals contractor suspected it was the victim of industrial espionage when it started losing bids on €800 million plus projects by tiny margins to a Far Eastern rival.

We were asked to trace the source of the suspected leak.

We conducted in-depth interviews with key employees; analysed the company’s information security systems and employees’ movements at critical times. We narrowed the field of suspects and showed that one of them had contacts with an information broker based in Lugarno. The company then allowed a false bid to be leaked to the rival, which enabled the client to win a major contract. After punishing the rival, the guilty employee was dismissed.
