New Director joins Begbies Traynor Restructuring Team

26 September 2011

Begbies Traynor Group has appointed Kevin Lamb as a Director in its growing business restructuring team in Scotland.

The former Finance Director and Managing Director, who trained as an accountant with KPMG and later specialised in corporate finance, is joining BTG Restructuring, the turnaround division of the AIM listed professional services group.

Kevin has most recently worked as a financial consultant and held the position of corporate finance director and board advisor to a number of businesses in Scotland and the North of England, undertaking responsibility for a variety of financial projects including fundraising, cost reduction and strategic exit planning.

“Kevin is a highly experienced finance director, managing director, accountant and corporate finance adviser who will bring a unique perspective of business from both sides of the fence,” said Paul Dounis, partner at BTG Restructuring in Scotland.

“To have the experience of managing several businesses, and advising many others on crucial aspects of negotiating facilities, reducing cost base and securing equity investment is unusual, and we welcome the additional expertise we will be able to offer our clients,” he added.

Lamb (38), who will work across all the firm’s Scottish offices, has enjoyed a varied career with roles including UK group accountant for Starbucks, finance director and later managing director of motor group Glenvarigill Company and director of Manor Oak Motor Group.

“Joining Begbies Traynor Group’s growing Scottish operation is a great fit for me. I will have access to numerous complementary areas of expertise within the organisation, from insolvency services to forensic accounting, and I am joining an already busy team of restructuring experts.”

This latest Director hire comes just two months after the group’s insolvency division acquired the corporate and sequestration portfolio of Scottish insolvency specialist Invocas.

Begbies Traynor Group now has 63 staff across four Scottish offices in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
